Madison was born at 38 weeks and we thought she was perfect just like our other 4 children, little did we know what God had in store for us. Madison was born on January 28th, 2010. She spent a week in the hospital receiving phototherapy for newborn jaundice. On day 7 of treatment the nurses noticed that she was breathing very fast. During a chest x-ray to check her lungs the doctor saw that Madison's organs were in her body backwards and her heart was mis-shaped. We were refered to a Pediactric Cardiologist at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. We had the elders of our church pray over Madison. Four days later when we saw the Cardiologist we were told that her heart and her organs were found exactly where they needed to be, but that she had at least two congential heart defects. The worse of the two was a Coarctation of the Aorta (or narrowing of the aorta) on the descending part of her aorta. When Madison was 7 weeks old she entered Congestive Heart Failure and she was admitted to the hospital to have heart surgery. A wonderful doctor and team of nurses removed almost a half inch of Madison's aorta, saving her life. After her surgery at our next cardiology appointment we were told that Madion's heart had been damaged by working so hard to get blood through the narrowing in her aorta. She now has 4 different areas of concern that we are watching and waiting to see what happens. Please pray that God will heal her heart and aorta of all defects and that she will begin to grow and have a normal life.
